The spicy, fresh aroma of ginger has long been popular as an essential oil. Uplifting and warming, it has all manner of potential uses, from diffusers to massage oil mixes (when used with an appropriate carrier oil).
Ginger derives its name from the Greek word “zingiberis” which means “horn-shaped”, describing the root of the plant.
Our ginger essential oil is extracted from the Zingiber officinale plant, often known by the English name of Jamaican ginger. The oils are gently extracted by steam distillation from the dried, ground ginger root which is grown in India under sustainable conditions.

Ginger essential oil is considered to be highly potent, so care should be taken if using it on the skin. A suitable carrier oil is crucial, and a patch test is recommended, particularly among those with more sensitive skin.

Ginger Essential Oil (Zingiber officinale)
Add 1 drop per 25ml carrier oil for massage. Add 6 drops to the running water of a bath.
Caution: Do not take internally or apply undiluted on the skin. Avoid eye contact. Seek advice if you have a medical condition or are pregnant.
